Dear Colleagues,
In the last couple of days, the nature of trade relations with the United States has changed significantly. The recent announcement that the US will impose tariffs on steel and aluminum from Canada, and the reaction from the federal government that Canada will impose retaliatory tariffs will inevitably have an impact on cross-border trading patterns.
The Atlantic Chamber of Commerce has been approached by the CBC to determine whether businesses in Atlantic Canada, and in particular NS, are concerned by the direction of trade negotiations between the NAFTA partners and/or support the reaction of the federal government.
We are interested in hearing whether this issue is one of concern for your members, and whether there is a chamber or business that would like to arrange an interview directly with the CBC reporter in question.
Your response or thoughts on this issue are invited at your earliest convenience. If you wish to submit a reaction or identify a member business please send your written comments to glenn@atlanticchamber.ca.
Regards,
Glenn Davis, VP Policy, Atlantic Chamber of Commerce
